PSM is a mobile application which aims to automate the capturing and sending of trade inventory data for quicker reaction to movements in the market. Data such as OSA (On-Shelf-Availability), offtake, near expired items, pullouts, deliveries, returns, etc can easily be captured through PSM by the merchandisers in stores. Significant reports such as Offtake Trending, Out of Stock Report, Share of Shelf Report, Near Expiry Reports and even Suggested reports can be generated from the data easily captured from the field.
SYSU used to do manual inventory taking using preprinted forms (inventory sheets) issued to their merchandisers. The area coordinators collects these inventory sheets every week from the merchandisers and send them to the head office for encoding. They have around 210 stores and plentiful of SKU's that need to be encoded to an excel sheet which is prone to human errors. This manual process, on average, takes them about two to three weeks to produce an inventory report. There are also additional charges for courier costs for areas like Visayas and Mindanao.
Due to the long turnaround time of the manual process, SYSU experience instances of over stocking, stocks not being replenished and bad orders that were not pulled-out on time. Actionability and decisions on these crucial items are delayed as well.
Last year, SYSU then decided that they want to increase the efficiency of their merchandisers & area coordinators by providing them the right tool. They partnered with E-Science to provide PSM to their employees on the field.
Availing of PSM provided them on-time monitoring of stocks and off-takes which are essential to their distribution business. It paved the way to streamline their merchandisers' inventory taking process. It provided more accurate reports and manual encoding was eliminated. They also use the provided reports for timely decision making and annual business review.
